Oregon Scientific Announces MEEP! Android Tablet for Kids

Let’s face it – kids these days are extremely technologically savvy these days, but their butter fingers are sometimes extremely destructive on electronics. Oregon Scientific recognizes this and they have come up with an Android tablet called the MEEP!, that is specifically designed for kids.

Basically, the Oregon Scientific MEEP! Has a 7-inch Neonode zForce touchscreen display. The tablet also supports WiFi connectivity, has an SD card slot, and it also comes with a G-sensor for screen rotation too. AMD New Plan: Focus on Tablets, Cloud Computing and Developing Markets

Looks like AMD has made a 360 degree turn over their previous resolution for the microprocessor market, in which previously AMD mentioned that the tablet market is just a fad, and that the respective market segment will die out pretty soon. Nevertheless, AMD has just recently disclosed their ‘new plan’ for 2012, in which the company plans to focus on tablets, cloud computing, and developing markets.

Surely, AMD’s new top man, Rory Read, knows what he is doing, in which he is setting the company to dominate more of the mobile computing market segment. Generally, Read wants to outflank Intel in the tablet market, and also increase their market share for cloud computing. Also, AMD has big plans to tap into the Chinese market, simply by introducing components for entry-level PCs, and devices. However, AMD is adamant that they will not enter into the smartphone market anytime soon though.

Olympus OM-D Camera

Well the Olympus OM-D series isn’t official in the market yet, and it seems that Olympus is already ramping up their marketing campaign for this particular DSLR, simply by ‘leaking’ images of their upcoming OM-D camera. Apparently, the OM-D camera is a decent upgrade to its PEN shooters, and I’m pretty sure it will surely be a fine Micro Four Thirds camera too.

According to rumors, it seems that the new OM-D camera will feature a sturdier magnesium chassis, and it will also be equipped with a 16 megapixel sensor with HDR optimization. The OM-D camera will support up to 25600 ISO and comes with a 3-inch OLED swivel display – don’t you just love those rotating screens? And as for the price, the OM-D camera might be priced in the region of $1,100.

Sony Unveils Walkman B170 Series

Sony is known for their Walkman series, in which Sony has a long history producing these devices for the past couple of decades. Nevertheless, Sony has unveiled today their latest Walkman B170 Series, which boasts a lighter form factor, and weights in at only 28 grams. Basically, there will be two storage options available, namely the 2GB and 4GB variants.

Also, the miniature device can pump up to 18 hours of music, none stop, on a single charge. Apparently, you can also plug in the walkman for a quick 3 minutes charge, which in return would give you a whopping 90 minutes of listening time. Other noticeable features include an onboard equalizer, USB port, voice recorder, and also something new – the Bass Boost. There’s no info on the pricing yet, but Sony disclosed that the walkman will be available sometime this month.
